Dr. Subhaschandra Shetty is an ENT/Head and Neck Surgeon who has served the Northland community for more than 20 years, treating a range of conditions of the ear, nose, and throat.
Thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary gland surgery
I am a high-volume thyroid and parathyroid surgeon and an expert in the evaluation and management of head and neck lumps and masses
I am proficient in minimally invasive and conventional surgical technique, with intraoperative nerve monitoring when indicated
I represent the Northland District Health Board at the Auckland Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Meeting, where I discuss our Northland patients with a panel of national experts so that they can receive cutting-edge, evidence based care.
Nose and sinus care
I have extensive experience in managing acute and chronic sinus conditions medically and with comprehensive endoscopic sinus surgery. I believe in an individualised approach and I don’t rush to operate.
I prioritise accurate diagnosis, medical and allergy optimisation, postoperative care, and I follow my patients up long term.
Ear surgery
I manage a range of ear conditions affecting both adults and children, including recurrent infections, eardrum perforations, hearing loss, blocked ears, and middle-ear disease.
I place importance on careful examination, appropriate hearing assessment, and a clear discussion of treatment options. Many ear conditions can be managed without surgery, but when an operation is required, I perform procedures such as grommet insertion, myringoplasty and tympanoplasty. For middle-surgery and complex cases, I refer to otologists/neurotologists in Auckland with whom I work closely.
Paediatric and General ENT
I provide paediatric and general ENT care for common conditions affecting the ears, nose, throat, tonsils, adenoids, voice, breathing, and neck.
For children, this includes assessment of recurrent ear infections, glue ear, hearing concerns, tonsillitis, enlarged adenoids, snoring, sleep-disordered breathing, tongue-tie, and nasal obstruction. I aim to give families clear advice and a balanced view of when surgery is helpful and when observation or medical treatment is more appropriate
